South Korea's national soccer team fullback Seol Young-woo (Zvezda-Serbia) is determined to end their Middle East tour on a high note after a grueling road trip.
Sul played the entirety of the fifth match of the FIFA Confederations Cup North America 2026 Asian Qualifying Group B match against Kuwait at the Jaber Al Ahmed International Stadium in Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait, on Thursday at 11 p.m. ET, helping South Korea to a 3-1 victory.
The former Ulsan HD of the K-League K1, Seol Young-woo first earned his stripes last year and has since secured a spot at fullback for the national team.
He left Ulsan and moved to Zvezda, where he continued to grow in Europe, playing in Serbia and European club competitions.
On July 7, he scored his first offensive point in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) League Phase 4 match of the 2024-2025 season against world-renowned club Barcelona (Spain), assisting Felicio Moussong's goal.
Seol continued his steady performance on both sides of the ball for the national team, helping them to a win over Kuwait.
“In the Middle East, 토토사이트 we say that we are naturally superior because of the power difference, but as you know, it's not an easy trip,” said Seol Young-woo in the Mix Zone after the match. ”The game went as we wanted, but we conceded a goal in the second half. I thought the momentum would carry over because they are a team with a lot of momentum, but the goal came at a very good time and we finished the game well.”
Son Heung-min (Tottenham) was substituted to prevent injury, but Bae Jun-ho (Stoke), who took over for Batong, was the key to the victory.
“Coach (Hong Myung-bo) made some changes, and (Son) Heung-min came off and (Bae) Junho came on, and we were energized,” said Seol. ”We were pushing, and we were getting chances, so Junho finished well, and we were able to finish the game easily.”
For Hongmyung, Seol is one of the resources that will come in handy at the World Cup in North and Central America.
He's juggling his club and national team schedules without much of a break.
“Compared to other players, my season ends in May next year. I've been playing 'full' soccer for a year and a half, but I think it's okay because I'm still young,” he said.
“It's true that I'm tired because I've been on a lot of airplanes for the Middle East tournament, but it's not only me, but all the players, including Junho, are the same, so I have to overcome it professionally. I'll take good care of myself and finish the season without any injuries,” he added.
Seol and the national team will now focus on preparing for the sixth match of the tournament against Palestine, which will take place four days later on June 19 at the Amman International Stadium in Amman, Jordan.
